This winter, All Lines partnered with Meals on Wheels to raise funds based on the number of referrals we received within the quarter. Thanks to you, we donated $1,750 to help feed seniors in our community!
Our agency has loved working with the team from Meals on Wheels, and we’re proud to work with an organization that does so much for the seniors in our community. Meals on Wheels provides more than meals—they create a social lifeline by hosting special events, daily lunches, and bingo games at their senior center downtown.
I chatted with longtime volunteer, my friend Dan Wolfley, about the greater impact Meals on Wheels has in our community. Dan first learned of Meals on Wheels during his career as a social worker. He has volunteered with them for the last eight years, helping deliver nutritious meals each week. According to Dan, the staff and volunteers are a source of security for many of Meals on Wheels’ patrons. For a quarter of those people served, these deliveries from volunteers are the only contact they’ll have with another person that week.
One of Dan’s favorite parts of volunteering is developing these relationships with patrons, the staff, and the other volunteers. Meals on Wheels has expanded its network of delivery routes and desperately needs more volunteers to help deliver meals. If you’re interested in volunteering or donating, please visit mowspokane.org.
