Three years ago, my mom’s best friend, a.k.a. my “second mom”, asked me to help the Ronald McDonald House. She had just started working for “The House” and knew how badly they needed help at their major fundraising events: the SK Ball and the Cobra Polo Classic. I volunteered at my first event that year, and I have been hooked ever since. My husband and I volunteered at the Cobra Polo Classic last year.
Year after year, you see the same volunteers come back to donate their time at these major fundraisers. I love the Ronald McDonald House family, and I am overwhelmed to see how our small community comes together to support the House. Last year, the Polo Classic raised over $500,000 to help out-of-town families whose children are seeking medical attention in Spokane.
The House is so much more than a place to stay; it helps eliminate a number of stresses in these families’ lives while they are having to take time off to stay in Spokane as their young children undergo treatment. I hope you’ll join me for the SK Ball this month! It is a fun and easy way to support the Ronald McDonald House.
